A leap of faith
Of the 400,000 people in Sweden estimated to be celebrating the end of Ramadan this weekend, around 5,000 are ethnic Swedes who have converted to Islam. Many of these converts are women. Two of them tell Rami Abdelrahman about how they square their faith with society’s expectations.

Den här helgen firar världens muslimer Eid al-Fitr, den stora glädjefest som avslutar den muslimska fastemånaden Ramadan.
Eid al-Fitr firas i upp till tre dagar i en anda av gemenskap, med mycket festmat – sötsaker inte minst – på borden, och man ska dela sin glädje genom att ge av sitt överflöd till de fattiga.
This weekend sees the start of the 3 day Eid al-Fitr festival. A chance for muslims across Sweden and the world to let their hair down after a month of fasting. Rami Abdelrahman filed this report.

Den som söker visum till Sverige eller något av de andra 27 EU länderna som ingår i Schengenområdet kan redan nästa år komma att behöva låta fingeravtrycken bli registrerade och ansiktet fotograferat. Uppgifterna kommer att lagras i en stor central databas, Visa Information System (VIS). Enbart Sverige kommer att ha fotostationer på 95 ambassader och konsulat runt om i världen. Det berättar Mats Karlsson, projektledare för VIS vid Migrationsverket.
